All schools have a governing body which is responsible, with the local education authority, for the general oversight of the school. The Full Governing Body meet once a term and each Governor is also a member of one of either the Resources, Children, Family and Community or Curriculum and Achievement committee.
Governors can be contacted via the school office. Your written enquiry should be addressed to the Chair of Governors.
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the tragic death of our Chair of Governors, Frances Spring. She died, after a short illness, on 16 July.
Frances was a Governor at Manor before joining the Barking Abbey Governing Body, bringing a wealth of experience with her. As an ex-Barking Abbey pupil herself, Frances knew the school inside out and still lived in the school’s catchment area with her husband and four children (all Barking Abbey students as well).
She was a wonderful and exceptional person, having worked hard to qualify as an Accountant and setting up her own company. She was a talented musician and linguist who worked tirelessly for the good of the school and devoted many hundreds of hours (all voluntary as a School Governor) to her work.
She will be greatly missed and impossible to replace.
