Debate Mate Launch 2018
Barking Abbey made their way to the regal Emmanuel Centre in Westminster for the Debate Mate Launch 2018. The squads ran deep with over 50 students attending the event. The year 7 and 8 students learned the main rules of debating and given information about the scoring system. The focus of the show debate was whether fried chicken should be banned from the high street and we watched an interesting and informative debate consisting of teams made up with previous school winners and expert debaters. The audience had a chance to participate and ask questions - the best one would ironically get a Nandos voucher! Finally, the Debate Mate club has now officially started and there were 50 Longbridge Campus students in attendance on Wednesday after school, which was an incredible turn out.
