A brilliant time at the Summer Community Fair
On a beautiful sunny summer’s day last Saturday, Barking Abbey and Manor Juniors opened their gates to welcome the local community to its first ever joint Summer Community Fair.
The event was a great example of people helping each other to raise money for various charities locally, nationally and globally.
The weather remained dry throughout the day which resulted in a fantastic turnout. The school welcomed various community groups and were visited by the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham Sanchia Alasia and Councillor Evelyn Carpenter during the day.
Students from Manor Juniors and Barking Abbey ran their own stalls and showed great leadership and team work throughout the day.
Stalls included Hook the Duck, Limbo Dancing, Guess the Number of Sweets, Splat the Teacher, Higher or Lower to name but a few….
There were also mini rounders, cricket and football tournaments as well as some brilliant musical and dance performances in the afternoon.
It was great to see the whole community enjoying themselves throughout the day.
Barking Abbey Head teacher, Jo Tupman said “Our first ever Community Fair was a great success and I am delighted that so many people came along and joined us for an afternoon of fun, games and refreshments. It was fantastic to see two local community schools coming together at the end of another school year.
“The students and staff from both schools did a great job of organising the fair and I would like to thank them and all the people who supported us.”
