Walk for Humanity
On Saturday, 5th October, Barking Abbey JLT, accompanied by Headteacher Mr. Roe, participated in the 5k Walk for Humanity charity event. The weather was kind, and the JLT met early in the morning, traveling to Archbishop's Park, where they joined a samba warm-up. From there, they set off on their 5k walk, passing iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, the London Dungeons, the National Film Theatre, Sea Life Aquarium, and many more famous London sights.
It's fair to say that the JLT would not have won the 5k race, but that was because we took the time to appreciate the beauty of London and truly enjoyed the walk, as the photos show. Pupils stopped for a break, enjoying lunch and treats like chocolate-dipped marshmallows, strawberries, and churros.
In total, the walk took 2 hours and 20 minutes of fun, and it was incredible to see that £642 was raised. A heartfelt thank you to every parent, pupil, and staff member who donated to this cause. We look forward to our next walk on Saturday, 12th October, in support of Great Ormond Street Cancer Hospital.
