Longbridge Campus Library
Welcome to Barking Abbey Longbridge Campus Library
Barking Abbey has a popular and well stocked library located at our lower site. It is well used by students and teachers and is accessible before, during and after school.
All students are automatically members of the library as soon as they join the school and can borrow books immediately.
Books are issued with a three week return policy. Students are required to have a reading book with them at all times.
How is the library used?
The library is often used during scheduled lesson times giving teachers the option of using its excellent facilities. From group reading to our computers, the school library is an extension of Barking Abbey’s teaching space that can be used in different ways. Many students opt to use the library for quiet revision as examinations draw near.
Our aim is to:
- To provide a stimulating, secure and supportive learning and study environment
- To enable pupils to develop their information skills to become confident, independent and lifelong learners
- To provide a wide range of current Children’s and Young Adult fiction, supporting literacy development, helping develop student’s reading habits and help raise literacy and encouraging reading for pleasure
- To provide a current and responsive range of print and online information resources, supporting the curriculum of the School.
The Library maintains close links with all departments so that we can provide books for loan and research that are relevant to the topics taught in school.
Opening Times:
