Abbey Academy Boys March into Quarters-Finals of the National Cup after beating Brentford CST

Zolani Dlodlo’s brilliant solo display helped Abbey cruise into the quarters of the National League cup against a strong Brentford side that fielded 6 professional scholars. Abbey started brightly when Dlodlo smashed home a left screamer from 25 yards. Finlay Dorrell made it 2-0 when he slotted home from close range. Brentford responded well and equalised to make it 2-1 at half- time. Brentford started the second half strongly and Abbey suddenly found themselves 3-2 down before Dlodlo and Dorrell combined brilliantly for Dlodlo to score the equaliser. The cup tie went straight to penalties and Team Abbey stepped up and calmly slot home all 4 penalties before Brentford missed their 4th penalty. Then Zolani Dlodlo sealed the tie when he showed nerves of steel to side foot home the deciding penalty.
