  • FA Youth Cup run comes to a stop at Roots Hall

    Abbey’s FA Youth Cup dream is over for another year. Despite a gallant effort we bowed out losing 2-0 to Southend Utd at Roots Hall on Tuesday Night… After winning the last two qualifier rounds against non-league opposition, Barking FC were drawn against a more formidable opposition in Southend Utd. The former league two side still run a full-time professional academy program as they look to bounce back to league status. The second-round qualifier was played at Roots Hall making a great atmosphere for our young student-athletes.

    FORMER ABBEY BOYS SHINE BRIGHT IN STATES


    Congratulations to Barking Abbey Ex Sixth form and Football Academy students Senior Joe Bowles (majoring in sport management graduated from Barking Abbey 2016) and Freshman Famade Bamba (majoring in Mechanical Engineering  graduated from Barking Abbey 2020) who go on to create history as they become the first Grace College soccer team ever to seal the National NCCCA Division 1 Title. Joe Bowles was also named defensive player of the week and then was named to the NCCAA All- tournament Team.

  • Abbey Boys Fly into First Final

    Abbey boys produced a vintage performance to make it the fourth Byron Coomer Cup final in four years; as they picked up the baton from last year’s Abbey side and 2018/2019 Byron Coomer Cup winners. However, this was to be a tough test against a strong Westcliff School side. Both sides fought for possession in the early minutes of the game without either side really threatening to score. However, it was in the 16th minute that the game had its first real moment, when Mensor Draij went on a mazy run beating 3 players before being chopped down by the last West Cliff defender inside the 18 yard box.

  • National 9v9 Football Tournament

    St. Georges Park, the home of football, was the stage that was set for the Barking Abbey girls academy football team to take part in a National 9v9 Football Tournament, organised by National Football Youth League and included 14 teams from across the country. For our qualifying matches, we were placed in to a difficult fixture group, but the girls showed their quality and winning edge easing through to the semi-finals with wins over This Girl Kicks, Durham & Sunderland. In the semi-finals we were met with local opposition EDSV college & some of the best football was on display from our players.

    Four Graduates of the Barking Abbey Football Academy are proud to announce that they have continued to develop their student-athlete careers with long term scholarships in the United States of America. Joe Bowles transferred to Akron University (junior). NCAA DiV1 Sofian Maghouz to Carson-Newman University (Freshman). NCAA Div 2 Peter Oyetunji to West Alabama University.
