Delivery, Funding and Applications

Key information for prospective participants and their schools.

How the programmes are delivered

Teach First NPQs are designed to fit around the demands of working in a school. Participants will learn through a blend of:

  • flexible online learning and evidence-informed modules
  • facilitated online seminars
  • local, in-person conferences and training
  • discussion and collaboration with other school leaders
  • practical application within the participant’s own setting
  • preparation and support for the final assessment
Scholarship funding for autumn 2026

DfE scholarship funding is available for the NPQSL, NPQH and NPQ for SENCOs for teachers and leaders working in publicly funded schools, including maintained nursery schools, and 16 to 19 educational settings in England. DfE NPQ funding guidance

Important

Eligibility does not guarantee that a course is suitable or that a funded place will be available. Scholarship funding is limited, and providers may prioritise applications. For the NPQ for SENCOs, priority may be given to those who need the qualification as a mandatory requirement of their role.

How to apply
  1. Discuss the programme with your headteacher or line manager and secure your school’s support
  2. Have your Teacher Reference Number and school or setting details available
  3. Register through the DfE NPQ application service
  4. Select Teach First as your lead provider and complete the Teach First application
  5. Follow the allocation instructions provided by Teach First and Barking Abbey/BST for the local delivery cohort
