NPQ for Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (NPQ for SENCOs)

Lead inclusive practice and improve provision for pupils with SEND.

Who is it for?

New, existing or aspiring SENCOs, and school leaders who want to deepen their expertise in leading SEND provision.

Programme overview

Duration: 18 months, followed by an assessment period

Delivery: Blended learning: online modules, online seminars and in-person conferences

Funding: DfE-funded places are available, subject to eligibility and availability

Self-funded fee: £1,265 plus VAT, where a funded place is not available

Mandatory qualification

The NPQ for SENCOs replaced the NASENCO as the mandatory qualification from 1 September 2024. SENCOs who are required to complete the qualification must normally do so within three years of appointment. Those who have already completed the NASENCO do not need to complete the NPQ.
